Where to eat in Halkidiki? Here are the best restaurants in Kassandra and Sithonia!
Where to eat well in Halkidiki? It is often one of the questions posed for those visiting this region for the first time. The choice of food is always one of the top topics during a holiday. A typical dish, a refined dish or simply good food makes the memory of the trip itself better.
So, which are the best meat or fish restaurants on the first peninsula of Kassandra? Where to eat traditional in the second peninsula of Sithonia? Below you will find some ideas. Obviously, this article cannot be exhaustive because there are many other restaurants or taverns to try and it is simply based on my personal experience and related tastes.
Eating fish in Kassandra: Thea Thalassa, in the picturesque village of Afytos
Afytos is the cutest little village on the first foot of the Halkidiki peninsulas. The street with the greatest impact is the pedestrian one overlooking the sea. The view is truly magical. There are many taverns and restaurants with tables positioned near the edge of a low wall where you can enjoy the spectacle of the colors of the sea in the front row. Among these restaurants, I point out Thea Thalassa.
The translation of “Thea Thalassa” means “sea view.” But in addition to the view, the food is tasty and you can choose your own fresh fish to cook. In addition to fish, you can combine some initial appetizers among the various they have.

Eating fish in Kassandra: the iconic Marina Seafood and the Argonautes tavern in Nea Potidea
In recent years the Marina Seafood restaurant in Nea Potidea has gone from a typical Greek tavern to a refined restaurant. Despite the slightly higher prices than the average, the sea view, the excellent quality of the food and the attentive and quick service still make this restaurant one of the best in the area for generous fish meals.
If, on the other hand, you want to eat fish, but in a typical Greek tavern in a more basic and simpler environment, you will find Argonautes just 50 m away on foot. Paper tablecloths and cats impatiently waiting for scraps of food to make the place properly traditional.
Eating meat in Kassandra: Massalia, the atmosphere of the Greek square
Massalia is located in Nea Fokea in the main square, adjacent to the Church. Here you can really breathe authentic Greece, as local families go out to the main square of the town to eat or drink something. Clearly the square is also crowded by tourists during the summer season, but the environment remains original.
I consider it one of the best restaurants in the area, it is no coincidence that it has also won awards. Traditional cuisine made from simple but at the same time refined dishes accompanied by an interesting wine list. I recommend it above all for the meat, but the quality of the fish is no less. I suggest that you reserve a table located in the square.
Eat meat in Kassandra: Metoxi, positioned on a relaxing hill
If you want to take a break from the sea or are tired of the chaos of some coastal villages (especially in July and August), simply move a few kilometers inland to the Halkidiki Peninsula to find relaxing spaces. The Metoxi restaurant is surrounded by greenery and offers a panoramic view as it is located on the promontory of a hill.
I suggest you go there at sunset to enjoy the colors, otherwise if it’s late in the evening and it’s already dark you won’t see much of the greenery around. The surrounding atmosphere invites you to eat meat which is their specialty and they offer many to choose from.

Eating fish in Sithonia: Panos tavern, by the sea
Abundance! The first word that comes to mind to describe this place is the abundance of dishes. It makes you want to order everything and more, but to go here be prepared to be very hungry. The price – quality ratio is good and the Panos tavern has almost become an institution (it is so well known that it doesn’t even need a website to advertise itself).
There are those who arrive by boat (since it is located at a small bay), who arrive with luxury cars and ordinary people, in short, Panos seems to be suitable for everyone! You will find various pasta dishes with seafood and fish galore with plenty of seats outdoors.
Eating fish in Sithonia: Boukadoura, excellent quality and location
Boukadoura in Akti Elias remains one of my favorite places. The restaurant is positioned by the sea and you can enjoy a view of that stretch of coast that leads from Nikiti to Neos Marmaras. Moreover, the area is full of bays with unique colors and therefore after a nice dip, it becomes an ideal stop.
You will find fresh fish cooked with its own unique style. Such as, for example, octopus served on a bed of mashed potatoes, organic vegetables are on offer too. The wine or ouzo lists to accompany the dishes are worth mentioning, and all dishes seasoned with a truly relaxing view. If you are in the area, it is one of the restaurants to try.

Eat meat in Sithonia: Eladia, the best Deli Food in Neos Marmaras
Located right in the center of Neos Marmaras, Eladia Deli Food offers some really tasty dishes. Cured meats, cheeses with jams and meat dishes (such as sausages or smoked chops), salads are their specialty combined with some of Greece’s notable wine producers, Greek artisanal microbrewery beers and many more local products. The tables are located outdoors in front of the same shop that sells typical Greek products of quality gastronomy.
Ideal stopover to combine a stroll in the center of Neos Marmaras. Also recommended for rich breakfasts (really unique Greek yoghurt!) before a long day at the beach. The staff is one of the politest ones I have met in Halkidiki.

There are many other alternatives in Sithonia such as “O Psaras” tavern in the beautiful little port of Porto Koufo, the “Okyalos Sea Food” restaurant in the center of Neos Marmaras or, in Kassandra the refined restaurant “Trizoni” located in a garden in Kriopigi.
Clearly there are plenty of meat taverns everywhere with Gyros and Souvlaki specialties (pork, beef and chicken skewers). Enjoy your meal!
